I think those techniques really do work, especially the shhhing noise and the swaddling. But let me add another. Try hold the baby close to so that it can hear your heartbeat. A baby, before being born, must hear the very constant heartbeat of the mother, so the heartbeat trick is almost always soothing ( unless your heart rate is erratic - in which case, you perhaps should get that looked at first before trying to soothe the baby )
Harvey’s book is cheap enough that when we tried to buy it online from Canada, the shipping costs were going to be almost as much as the book, ha ha. not the fault of the book author, but beware when buying online from countries other than the states.
